Venue: People’s History Museum, Left Bank, Spinningfields, Manchester M3 3ER

2017 marks the 50th anniversary of the Sexual Offences Act 1967, which partially decriminalised homosexual acts in England & Wales.  There’s lots of exciting projects in the pipeline across the UK to mark this anniversary and celebrate the richness and diversity of LGBT+ people and communities.  The People’s History Museum, Manchester wants to bring everyone together to discuss their plans and to scope out potential for collaborations and cross-promotion.

On 11 November 1966, the North West Homosexual Law Reform Committee organised a public meeting: ‘Society and its Homosexuals: Why the law must be changed’.  It is appropriate to meet on the 50th anniversary of this meeting, up the road from where it happened.

The meeting will be followed by the press launch of Never Going Underground: the fight for LGBT+ rights.  All are welcome to stay for special guest speakers and a glass of wine.

Please RSVP to catherine.odonnell@phm.org.uk.  If you can’t make it and are planning to mark the anniversary then they’d love to hear from you too!

This is an open invite, so please pass on to anyone who may be interested.
