Queer Beyond London has been invited to participate in the Hidden Histories Seminar in Plymouth November 29-30, 2016.

This seminar explores the importance of researching diverse history locally and regionally, providing examples of good practice.

Plymouth Pride Stage and Smeaton's Tower

The two day seminar will feature presentations from funders, case studies, networking sessions and funders’ surgeries. The event has been organised by Plymouth Museum, (a Major Partner Museum in partnership with the Royal Albert Memorial Museum in Exeter) and hosted in conjunction with Plymouth University with funding from Arts Council England.

It is aimed at funders; staff from National Portfolio Organisations and Major Partner Museums as well as other Arts and Heritage organisations in the South West region; independent researchers; academics; students and members of diverse community groups.

It is hoped that the seminar will enable delegates to understand how and why funders value projects exploring Diversity; bring together individual practitioners, researchers and organisations from across the cultural sector to share best practice and incubate ideas; and enable participants to take away skills which allow them to carry out diverse histories research in new ways. The seminar aims to enable staff in heritage organisations to fully understand the need for such research, and how to carry it out in a way which is inclusive and meaningful.

Dates of Event: 29th November 2016 – 30th November 2016
